First and most foremost, wanting to wish you all a Happy New Year! Wishing your families and you a safe and healthy year with the hope of replacing the struggles and woes of 2020, with the joy of a fresh new and adventurous year.
On that note, with everyone spending more time in their home over the past year, the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) projects were through the roof. Among these projects were the introduction of more smart-technologies throughout the house.
Here is a collection of the top 10 technology smart-home trends for safety, security, and efficiency:
- Smart Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detectors
- Wireless Doorbell Cameras
- Keyless Home Entry
- Automatic Lighting
- Smart Water Shut-off Valves
- Smart Home Security Cameras/Systems
- Smart Electrical Outlets/Plugs
- Smart Thermostats
- Water/Mold Monitoring Sensors
- Smart Home Window Blinds
Reading some of these trends, if you are of the old-school mindset, including my own, you have to question whether some of these are necessarily creating a smart home, or a lazier home? However, when you stop and think about some of these technologies, especially for some of our elderly or less capable home-owners, there are major enhancements to safety and security. Some of the more overlooked items that often require additional assistance or panic are creating a more-safe and rest-assured environment for our family members.
At the end of the day, with all these attempts to create a smarter home, you have to review and determine which of these make sense for you. Many of them, as mentioned, are for an attempt at that “easy button” everyone yearns for, however, a good amount of them were created to aid in that safety and security factor.
